As part of the Tour de France Honley village celebrations, the Honley Business

Association ran a competition to decorate village shop windows with pieces of artwork

designed by local children’s groups.

The winners of the HBA Community Art Award were the 6th Holme Valley Scout Group

Atlas Cubs. The competition was judged by Jason McCartney MP, who was most

impressed with all the entries, and the winning artwork appeared in the My Children’s

Wardrobe shop window.

Liz Wood, Chairman of the Honley Business Association said “It was wonderful to see

local children taking the Tour de France to their hearts. Their artwork contributions made

for a cheerful display around our village and formed an important part of our highly

successful and enjoyable village celebrations.”

They received the HBA Community Art Award

trophy and goodie bags (kindly donated by Bill O’Brien of System Vision Ltd).

Such was the success of the competition, Honley Business Association intend the

Community Art Award to become an annual event.
